At Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC), it’s the job of employees to provide safe, reliable and competitively priced energy services to empower their members to improve their quality of life, but the Co-op’s commitment to the communities it serves goes beyond electrification.

For over 15 years, the Co-op has worked with the Children’s Choice program to provide underprivileged children within its service territory presents for Christmas as part of the yearly Angel Tree initiative. This year, DEC’s employees rose to the occasion again to make the  holiday brighter. During this season of giving, employees bought presents for 43 children, ensuring they will have something to open on Christmas Day. According to Co-op employee Teresa McCann – DEC’s coordinator for the Children’s Choice Angel Tree project – employee participation in events like this helps demonstrate employees’ concern for those they power.

“I am proud to work with a team of people so dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve,” McCann says. “Thanks to their generosity, these kids will have gifts to unwrap this year, and to me, that spirit of giving represents the true reason for the season.”

Children’s Choice is a nonprofit social service agency that provides services for children in need, foster care and adoption services. The organization has more than one dozen offices in five states.
